Animation - flying disk!!

I made a flying disk, briefly through maya. I made the disk with surface - rotation then converted it into polygons
then I made a simple cityscape with buildings. The disk flies around, then lands on top of one of the buildings.

3D - animation render

I added two key frames and changed the particle time... to make the particles flow.
I batch rendered 20 frames of it, then made them into an animation with after effects.

3D Particle Exercise

I added a 3D container in Fluid Effects Tap, then put the space dust particles on my space scene.

3D Material Exercise

I used displacement mapping in order to make bumpy surface of the planet.
Also, I used special effects->glow and hide object to make the little halo effect on the planet.

Dong Kim 3D Modeling - Laughing Buddha

This is the final product.
I used geometric sculpt tool for the face and the legs.
Also, this tool was very useful in making the arms chubbier. Loved it!

Assignment 4 Progress Report

I am going to design a 3d model of the Laughing Monk, which is a famous iconic figure in Korea and other Asian nations.

I created his torso with face extrude methods, using sphere creating tool for his belly and lofting tool for his upper torso. creating his belly button and nipples was very fun.

Then I created his arm, using surface extrude tool. I used lattice tool in order to put the joints in the right place, as well as using face and vertex edit to create his hand.

By this point of production, I still needed to work on lots of details, such as his feet and his face.

2D Shape Assignment: Curves and Surfaces

I first created a logo using planar, its a simple logo with planes made up of lines, holes and texts.
Also, I created a UFO shape with the rotation tool and a curve, adding some metalic skin.
Then I created a twisted corn with the extrude tool, using a flower-shaped curve and a line perpendicular to it.
Finally, I drawed a circle, a triangle, a larger circle all parallel to one another and used lofting tool to create a vase.
